Eat, drink and be merry…

…for tomorrow they'll ban it.

Serves us right for not cutting the smokers a bit of slack. It's gone to their heads:

BBC: Tax alcohol more says top doctor

Tax on alcohol should be increased to reduce the damage being caused to people's health, the Chief Medical Officer for England has said…

Increased taxation citing health reasons is already in use with regard to tobacco.

Because, as we all know, increasing taxation was incredibly effective at getting people to give up smoking.

  1. In Bournemouth, they are banning the use of swimming aids being supplied by the pools. Apparently, this is to minimise the risk of infection....you just couldn't make it up!

  2. The way to avoid the sort of binge-drinking they are worried about is to ban fizzy larger, white wine, alcopops and mixers from pubs and bars.

By the time you have put in the effort to develop a taste for real beer, good red wine, or spirits cut only with water, you will be able to handle it without going mad over it all. It's the kiddies drinks that cause the problems.

  3. Real beer? Give me a nice Jaipur IPA any day & save that warm pond water for the beardy morris dancers & the like!
