BBC: Wind farm 'kills Taiwanese goats'
A large number of goats in Taiwan may have died of exhaustion because of noise from a wind farm.
A farmer on an outlying island told the BBC he had lost more than 400 animals after eight giant wind turbines were installed close to his grazing land.
The Ministry of Agriculture says it suspects that noise may have caused the goats' demise through lack of sleep.
The power company, Taipower, has offered to pay for part of the costs of building a new farmhouse elsewhere.
Meanwhile, in other news, the total number of Taiwanese goats killed by nuclear powerstations remains at zero.

Absolutely no Taiwanese goats died as a result of the Chernobyl accident; 400 Taiwanese goats died as a result of a single wind powerstation - but the 'solution' appears to be to move the goats. Next thing you know, they'll be accusing the poor farmer of nimbyism.
Nick K, we have no idea how many birth defects were caused by wind powerstations. They are assumed (wrongly, it seems) to be perfectly safe.

wallwind turbines!You've got a short memory. Lots of livestock ended up slaughtered as a direct result of Chernobyl - both in the immediate area of the disaster and as far afield as Scandinavia. Go and look it up.
I'm sure that even more sheep, goats and humans have had their lives cut short because of emissions from coal and oil fired power stations - It doesn't make the news because it isn't something you'd notice over night and it isn't a wacky story from Penghu.

Just trying to point out to the tree-huggers of this ever-warming world that wind powerstations aren't quite as harmless as they would have us believe. (Don't get me started on their effectiveness.) More nuclear powerstations now, please! We have a planet to save.
