Ambient Pap, Track 01: Synthetic Hip

Last April, you might remember that I came up with a list of new music genres.

As nobody else has yet seen fit to record music in any of these new genres, I have decided to put together my own album of Ambient Pap tracks. Here is the first track, which I have named Synthetic Hip in honour of the aforementioned post last April. The track is designed to be played in a continuous loop (which should come in very handy when I need some background music for a video):

Or, to put it another way, Jen bought me an iPad for my birthday. She is one cool dude.

  1. Nice....I liked how the hi-hat triplets came in to accompany the bass run.
Obviously inspired by Brian Eno's series of ambient albums.
I particularly like his 'Music for Airports' featuring the wonderful Robert Wyatt.

  2. I also like how the hi-hat triplets come in to accompany the bass run, even though I had no idea what I was doing. I do not have a musical bone in my body, unfortunately. I just got the iPad to generate a bunch of random beats, and played around with them until it sounded OK. The pairs of long, mournful notes near the beginning are me stroking a pair of virtual cello strings.

I keep meaning to get Music For Airports. I don't have much Brian Eno, but I love My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. In fact, I'm going to play it right now.
