Wild Wales

George Borrow's 1862 classic describes a journey on foot round Wales. It is fantastically entertaining. Reading it gives you an excellent overview of life in Wales in the mid-nineteenth century. But far more entertaining is Borrow's occasional patronising pomposity, and his occasional opinionated remarks about tea-totallers, abolitionists, and (especially) Roman Catholics.

Highly enjoyable.
