A Buzz in the Meadow

by Dave Goulson

A fantastic sequel to a fantastic prequel.

A Buzz in the Meadow

Dave Goulson's previous book, A Sting in the Tale, about bumblebees, was one of my favourite books of 2013. So I greatly looked forward to reading this sequel, about the insect life inhabiting his somewhat derelict farm in France.

As with its predecessor, what I really liked about A Buzz in the Meadow is the amount of accessible science it contains. Who would have thought that insects could be quite so fascinating?

Goulson's enthusiasm is infectious. By the time you've finished reading this book, you're itching to get out there and start searching amongst the undergrowth for bugs, beetles, and other creepy crawlies. Not only do you learn about insects, however; you also learn about how scientists think and go about their work.

Like its predecessor, essential reading for all nature lovers and science groupies. Highly recommended.
