A Sting in the Tale

by Dave Goulson

Fascinating book about bumblebees.

A Sting in the Tale

This is a fantastic book: a wonderful mixture of memoir and science writing. By the end of it, you are almost as hooked on the wonderful creatures that are bumblebees as is Dave Goulson—if such a thing were possible.

I particularly liked the way Goulson describes the simple-sounding experiments he and his colleagues have performed to learn more about bumblebees. The book is also packed with fascinating bumblebee facts. For example, did you know that there are bumblebees that live within the Arctic Circle? And there are parasitic bumblebees that invade other bumblebees' nests and take over their workers?

A truly exceptional book. Read it. You can thank me later.
