Granta 109: Work

Pieces loosely themed on the subject of work.

Granta 109: Work

This edition of Granta turned out to be better than I expected, based as it was on the rather boring theme of work. I think it turned out OK because the references to work were pretty tenuous in a lot of cases.

As usually, I skipped a few of the more overtly fictional pieces, but, other than those, it was a pretty good read. I was particularly interested by Daniel Aracón's account of the pirate book trade in Peru, Colum McCann's reminiscences of his journalist father, and Peter Stothard's reminiscences of his upbringing in a community of Marconi engineers and scientists in Essex.
