by Mark Haddon.
Amusing novel narrated from the viewpoint of an autistic boy.
A novel narrated by an autistic child hardly sounds like a bundle of laughs—especially when he sets out to investigate the death by garden fork of a neighbour's dog, but this novel is genuinely funny and moving. I don't go in for fiction much, but this is good stuff: Mark Haddon really gets inside the head of his hero, in exactly the way that his hero simply can't get into the heads of other people.
