On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

by Stephen King.

Death to slovenly adverbs!

On Writing

An excellent present from Stense. The cult author Stephen King explains how he goes about writing his punchy prose. Not being a great fan of fiction, I have only ever read one of King’s novels (Misery, which was excellent), but the advice he imparts applies equally well to any genre of writing.

The first third of this book is more memoir than writing tips, but King writes memoir as punchily as fiction, so it is pretty gripping stuff.

A good read.
