Book review: ‘The Bookseller’s Tale’ by Martin Latham

The Bookseller’s Tale

This is a book about being in love with books. It covers a wide range of topics, from comfort books to medieval marginalia, and from reading in adversity to libraries. In other words, it’s an eclectic but enjoyable mix.

There will be something for all bibliophiles in this collection. I particularly enjoyed the chapters on marginalia, and the signs of use (and misuse) that can be found in old books. I was less interested in the chapters on Parisian and New York bookshops.

An enjoyable read.
