Book review: ‘Dream Island’ by R.M. Lockley

Not particularly interesting narratives of sailing back and forth between islands and the mainland

Dream Island

I very much enjoyed R.M. Lockley’s Letters From Skokholm. Indeed, it is one of my favourite ‘nature classics’ to be re-published by the wonderful Little Toller Press.

I enjoyed Dream Island far less. Whereas Letters From Skokholm was all about bird observations and island life, Dream Island seemed primarily occupied with not particularly interesting narratives of sailing back and forth between islands and the mainland.

Yes, there are birds and island life still in there, but far less than in Letters From Skokholm. So I would recommend the latter over this.
