Beer came out of our collective noses

What Jen and I and most of Jen's family misheard her (Irish) mum to say in the pub last night:

What's the difference between a ship and a boat?
… Is it a yacht?

  1. I've been trawling your archives (ooh er, missus!) trying to establish when the owl first landed on your blog. I could not believe how many people make comments on articles posted several years earlier.

Incidentally, I noticed that the first few months of 2003 were rather devoid of comment. I hasten to add....I still haven't found the genesis of the feathered one! I thought it was around the middle of 2004....any ideas?

  2. I am probably responsible for some of the incontemporaneous comments, and Google for a load more - there are a surprising number of searches which bring up Gruts pages.

Speaking of which, I first stumbled here via the taglines page, which is currently broken - try http://www.gruts.com/misc/taglines.phpand you are likely to get a load of server errors but none of the usual nonsense at all. Probably progress on balance.

  3. Oh, and BTW, the shortcuts panel always appears at the bottom these days, even in a window 1200 pixels wide.

Yeah, I know. Nag nag nag nag nag.

  4. Looks like Micro$oft are trying to force a re-write of tinterweb again. Gruts displays fine in Firefox, IE7 however, is as Yoghurt describes.

  5. I think I've fixed both of the bugs. The broken taglines thing was my fault, the sidebar was bloody Microsoft.

(For info, I stuck with IE6 and IE7 religiously until six months ago. Finally, I migrated to Firefox. I haven't looked back since: it is miles better (and much faster). If you're reading this at home on IE6/IE7, you really should give Firefox a go.)
