by Ian Jack (ed.).
A collection of writing mostly themed around religious belief and its effects.
Despite many of the writers' apparently not believing in any sort of god, and therefore having similar religious views to myself, I didn't find this collection particularly compelling, although there were a couple of entertaining essays, including one by Richard Mabey which makes a nice comparison between evolution and a musical improvisation.
