Dilly-Dellying

Sorry about the lack of updates. I've just spent the whole evening on the Dell™ website, trying to order a new computer. Worst website ever: navigation utterly incomprehensible.

Finally managed to specify the options I want and proceed to the checkout, only to be told that I'm not allowed to give a delivery address other than my home address unless I first register the alternative address with my bank—which is shut. The Dell website helpfully advises me that, if I can't register alternative addresses with my bank, I could temporarily change my home address.

Yeah, like I'm that desperate to give my money to Dell.

  1. Have you considered a mac? I work in IT Support and it's one of my great pleasures that when I come home I don't have to look at a pc let alone fix one. They are expensive but the mac mini's quite reasonable and you get what you pay for, an operating system 5 years ahead of Microsoft. They really are the Dog's.

  2. I did briefly consider a Mac, but I'd rather stick with what I know (and I really don't like Apple's control freakery - which is why I refused to get an iPhone). I'm going to order a Dell to be delivered direct to my house (even though I won't be there when it arrives) and worry about where I pick it up from later.

  3. Hello:

My name is Chris and I'm a Community Ambassador here at Dell computers. I just wanted to touch base and see if you were able to order your computer as specified.

Let me know if you have any remaining questions or concerns, I'd be more than happy to assist. =)

  4. Whooo... I assumed this was some sort of spoof, and was ready to find it quite amusing, but this Chris guy actually seems to be for real.

No wonder Delltry to sell you loads of options you don't want or need - they're paying their staff to surf the net looking for negative blog comments.

    Amazing.

  5. I think I've worked out when those strange As appear in my submissions. It's when I edit or delete something, which I do quite a lot. Let's try editing here *_* and here *_*.
