Knobless oblige

BBC: Pope starts tweeting as @pontifex, blesses followers

I just checked out His Holiness's Twitter page—keeping an eye on the opposition, and all that—and was frankly astonished to see his choice of logo/wallpaper:

@Pontifex Twitter logo

The @Pontifex's Twitter logo this morning.

It's a crossed out knob!

Pretty apt, when you think about it.

This made stuff come out of my nose

Murdoch on editorial independence

I totally stole this joke from someone on Twitter:

BBC: Chinese author Mo Yan wins Nobel Prize for Literature

Finally Mo Yan is getting the recognition that he or she deserves!

Crumbling at the seams

Oh no! That world's last bastion of liberal impartiality is under treat:

Murdoch on Twitter yesterday:

Seems every competitor and enemy piling on with lies and libels. So bad, easy to hit back hard, which preparing.

Enemies many different agendas, but worst old toffs and right wingers who still want last century's status quo with their monoplies [sic].

Let's have it on! Choice, freedom of thought and markets, individual personal responsibility.

It's all part of my secret, right-wing, old-toff, monopolistic master plan. Let’s have it on, indeed, Murdoch! Whatever that means.

Newspaper hack

Let it not be said that all soccer players are a bunch of ignorant buffons. This from the increasingly erudite Wayne Rooney on Twitter earlier this week:

Scotland Yard detectives came to see me earlier and showed me some documents, looks like a newspaper have hacked into my phone.

Clear, concise, and almost grammatically correct.

Well done, Wayne. 7/10.

Crystal wedding

Hef & Harris

BBC: Playboy's Hugh Hefner to marry Playmate Crystal Harris

Hugh Hefner, the 84-year-old founder of Playboy magazine, has announced that he is to be married for the third time.

In a message to his Twitter followers on Christmas Day, Hefner said he had given his 24-year-old girlfriend, model Crystal Harris, a ring.

Can't see what he sees in her myself.
